Introduction
I’m Lorraine Levy, and I am working towards DE certification for teaching online renewal. I am a lifelong learner, so I hope I am in the middle of my journey and not at the end!
What drew me to Edit 10 was the AI exploration and support.
Professional Portfolio
My goal: Design and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences using digital media, educational applications, and AI-powered tools that align with pedagogical principles and support diverse learner needs.
As a product of a Silicon Valley education, I have been at the forefront of implementing technology in the classroom. I was in Nasreen’s first Canvas Cohort (2017), and I was so happy to put course content, technology tools, and enhancements in my in-person classes through Canvas. However, with the ease of AI, I am thinking I need to go back to Scantrons and in-class essays written in blue books. How do I keep my students engaged and reflective when AI can do the assignment in 10 seconds or less?
I currently teach psychology courses online. I am finding I enjoy the course design more than the online teaching role. Except, I love the end-of-term reflections when my students tell me how much they learned about themselves and what they are doing next. I am using AI for online meeting summaries, presentation outlines, research, applications for speaking events, travel tips, parent letters, emails, and images for PPT.
Educational technology is a trickster, can be difficult and temperamental, and is never as easy as I think it should be. For instance, all my PlayPosIt links need to be reset, and it looks like that is the same for 3Media links too. I used to use Google Cloud assignments in Canvas, but now I am changing out of the external tool to just using MS Docs and Google links. The Google Cloud external tool always challenged 10% of my students.
